From Executive Assistant to Operations: How to Showcase Your CV

Making the leap from EA to Ops isn’t as big as you might think – you just need to frame it right.

If you’ve been supporting business leaders, chances are you already understand the mechanics of business, and you’ve likely been part of key conversations that have shaped major projects and milestones.

But now, you’re ready to swap top-tier support for strategic ownership.

Here are three CV tips to position yourself for an operations role:

👉 Highlight your operational wins: Think beyond diary and email management. Have you streamlined processes, implemented systems, or managed budgets? These aren’t just nice-to-haves, they’re essential for operational success.

👉 Quantify your impact: Did you cut costs, boost efficiencies, or take ownership of a project? Make it easy for recruiters/hiring managers to see your achievements by showing HOW you did it. If you have numbers and stats to backup your statements, use them – they showcase your commercial acumen.

👉 Demonstrate leadership and influence: How have you worked cross-functionally and managed stakeholders? Have you led internal teams or influenced decisions at a strategic level? Think beyond ‘supporting’ – specify where you’ve been owning and leading.

Your CV should be more than a list of duties and responsibilities. It needs to tell a compelling story of impact and commercial value.

The right framing can be the difference between “They’re a great Executive Assistant” and “Wow, they’re our future Operations Manager!”
